Whiskey and Rye

Harry's Bar and Tables in Westport is a classy joint that doesn't take itself too seriously. Formerly a bank back in the day, this bar exudes old world elegance with its dark wood and old fashioned cocktails.

When I first entered Harry's, it was love at first sight. The pressed-tin ceilings and the worn wooden floors tell stories of Kansas City's wild past, especially since it is right on the path of the Oregon trail.
However, the prices couldn't be better, their scotch is top notch and at happy hour indulge in half-price bottles of wine. The menu has deliciacies ranging from New Orleans style sauteed shrimp to Red Bean Hummus.

The layout is such that it's pretty easy to snag a table by the window and people-watch. Since it's right on the corner and across the street from another historic pub, Kelly's, you can watch the nightlife from a cozy distance.

Ambience, style and great drinks--Manhattan atmospherewith Kansas City charm.

Coffee Beans and Airplane Wings

The Roasterie is a locally owned coffee place with three locations in the city. It's a specialty coffee-roasting company that specializes in  air-roasted Arabia Speciality grade coffee from thirty-one countries.

After living in Spain and enjoying the wonderful coffee in Europe, it was a great relief to find this place! The Roasterie coffee has a great reputation in the KC area, not only for the coffee but for the atmosphere of its cafes. I have spent many hours studying there since the music is nice but low, there are endless amounts of plugs for laptops and if you can snag them, the leather chairs are oh so comfy.

If volunteering is your thing, you can join the Bean Corps! Volunteer at least three hours a month at  to one of their events and besides the warm fuzzy feeling of helping the community; you'll get loads of perks! Some of which are a 12 oz bag of coffee each month, a Roasterie t-shirt and your very own 'bean team' name! This is truly a cafe that goes above and beyond the others.

The Roasterie's mission is clear; to create extraordinary coffee experiences.
 I say, mission accomplished.

Peanuts and Crackerjacks

Kansas City Royals Stadium. Beautiful Stadium, if only the team were better.
According to the Kauffman Stadium website; having hosted 68,898,648 fans since 1973, "The K", with its signature look, has proudly stood the test of time.

The crunch of peanut shells beneath your sneakers, the sound of the bat against the ball, cheering fans and the National Anthem. Leaning back in the chair, the number worn by thousands of people before you and the sun on your face. The tradition, the passion, the love of the game.

Whether you like baseball or not.
It's a good time.

This isn't Kansas, Dorothy

Spectacular View of Downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
A diamond in the rough.
New York, L.A., Chicago, Kansas City. I believe it can hold its own with the big boys.
A picture a day to prove it.
